UE/R: SOCO PROJECT FACILITATORS URGED TO WORK HARD FOR THE SUCCESS OF THE PROJECT – DCE NABDAM

The Bolgatanga Municipal Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has organized an educational campaign for women groups in the fight against corruption at the community levels.
The activity was part of the Commissions implementation of targeted educational campaigns for women groups in partnership with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and co-funded by the European Union (EU).
The Municipal Director of NCCE, Mr. Omar Jafaru Alsadiq, stated that the awareness creation forms part of the broader “Civic Engagement in empowering women with practical knowledge on the Rule of Law, civic rights, legal frameworks such as the Whistleblower Act, and their role in promoting transparency, and accountability at the grassroots levels.
Mr. Edmond Alagpulinsa (A Senior Principal Investigator & the Regional Public Education Officer- CHRAJ) sensitized the participants on The Legal Protection and Reporting Mechanisms – Whistleblower Act, CHRAJ, and the Right to Information Act, calling women groups to take advantage of the laws to serve their communities by reporting crime to the law enforcement agencies, including the police Service. And that the Police Services could be effective in providing secured environment if people volunteer information to the security agencies.
He ended by encouraging citizens to be law abiding and discharge their civic responsibility to their communities for development.
The Bolgatanga Municipal Coordinator for DOVVSU under the Ghana Police Services, ASP Awemoni Mariam, sensitized the women groups on The Rights of Women’s and the menace of Corruption in the country. focusing on Legal Equality, Accountability, Access to Justice, and other development issues affecting women in the society. She emphasized on the negative effects of corruption, and that, women suffer the greater parts of the negative effects of corruption, as they are the vulnerable in the society.
She called on women to be united and stand for each other at the household, family, market, and community levels in the society. She confidently added that, when women are in charge of the affairs of leadership, corruption will become the thing of the past, so she encourage women to strive and venture into male dominated areas, to strengthen the national fight against corruption in the country. She admonished the women to be accountable in their communities, by taken proactive and bold actions against corruption for societal development.
The activity ended up with a communique, that the women groups are ready to support the fight against corruption, and that leadership should demonstrate commitments for the fight against corruption in the country. A clarion call for all citizens to be on board, for the fight against corruption.
