BOLGA – NCCE Organised Inter-faith Peace Soccer Gala tournament towards Promoting Peaceful Election 2024

The Bolgatanga Municipal Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), in collaboration with the District InterParty Dialogue Committee (IPDC), has organised an inter-faith peace soccer Gala tournament for the youth in Bolgatanga Municipality

The Municipal Director for NCCE, Mr. Omar Jafaru Alsadiq in his welcome address, called on all citizens to see each other political party opponents as one people, and we should all jealously protect the peace of the nation, by behaving well, and redress from the appropriate quarters rather than resorting to violence. He also expressed the commitments of all the political parties to peace and security of the nation, and called on the youth not to allow themselves to be used by unscrupulous political party elements to disrupt the peace we are enjoying in the country.

The IPDC Chairman Sheik Abubakar Abdul Rahman, who Served as a resource person to the program. Speaking on the Theme: “Interfaith Engagement on Peaceful Elections” stated that, the family relations, Religion, and tradition were in existence before the Politics, or political parties. He called on all religious leaders to use their platforms to preach peace, and to pray for the nation to emerge victorious after the 2024 general elections.
Sheik Abubakar said, peaceful elections were crucial for a stable and prosperous Ghana and so it was incumbent on Ghanaians to ensure peace in the upcoming December elections.

The Participated communities were
Atulbabisi, Bukere, Kotokoli-Zongo, D- Line, Dologu, Gambibgo and Tongo

At the end of the games, Tongo community won the Gala matches

The engagements were done under the theme: “Together We Can Build Ghana, So Get Involved” and focus on the Commission’s key areas for the 2024 elections

The event created an atmosphere that paved the way for the NCCE and the IPDC members to interact with the youth on peace and to talk about violent free elections.

Participants were drawn from various Churches, Mosque, Traditionalist and political parties.
