The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has elected a new set of regional executives for the Upper East Region following a keenly contested delegates conference held at the Upper East Regional House of Chiefs in Bolgatanga on Saturday, August 15, 2026
Out of 334 accredited delegates, 332 cast their ballots in the elections, recording an impressive voter turnout across all contested positions

In the race for the Regional Communication Officer position, Dr. Samuel Akonga emerged victorious with 158 votes, defeating Ayinbisa Peter Ayamga, who secured 107 votes, and Appasinaba Ayine Johnson, who polled 67 votes
For the Regional Nasara Coordinator position, Musah Delwinde Salley won convincingly with 196 votes. Seldu Abass Ustarz obtained 107 votes, while Adamu Masaud received 28 votes
The Regional Women Organizer contest saw Asaaba Fatima emerge as winner after polling 142 votes. Abingde Evelyn secured 91 votes, Ophelia Philomena Aovare garnered 51 votes, and Margaret Akagwire received 48 votes

In the Regional Organizer race, Bombande Edmund was elected after obtaining 153 votes, ahead of Listowell Adaazi Azongbilla with 106 votes and Mark Ayamba Asampanbila with 73 votes
Dr. Daniel Ziba won the Regional Treasurer position with an emphatic 206 votes. Inusah Sally polled 94 votes, while Anaba Isaac Hakeem secured 32 votes
The Regional Assistant Secretary election was closely contested, with Anaane Johnson emerging victorious after polling 114 votes. Thomas Yaab Naoh followed with 107 votes, Aputara Akasaba Jeremiah secured 56 votes, and Samuel Asambilla Akaamah obtained 55 votes
In the Regional Secretary contest, Daniel Ayine defeated Daniel Kwame Gariba by polling 181 votes against Gariba’s 151 votes
For the First Regional Vice Chairperson position, Ayamba Georgina won decisively with 241 votes, while Isaac Adawele Atasige secured 67 votes and Asumda Janet Lamisi obtained 23 votes
The keenly watched Regional Chairperson race was won by Elvis Figo Awonekai, who polled 177 votes to defeat Dr. Moses Kwabena Atinga, who garnered 123 votes. Filson Kweku Awonkuah secured 18 votes, Patrick Ayaaba received 13 votes, and Osman M. konkonba polled 1 vote
