The Presidential Candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress, NDC for the 2024 general elections, Mr. John Dramani Mahama has said that the next government of NDC would decentralize recruitment into the public services saying it would prevent situations where recruitments only favour party faithfuls to the detriment of the many capable human resource potentials spread across the length and breath of this country.
The former President described it as sad the practice where job applicants were denied the opportunity to be recruited into public jobs simply because they could not honour monetary obligations to recruitment authorities. The centralization of recruitment according to him does not provide a level playing field for the ordinary graduate with the requisite qualification for a particular job.
Addressing representatives of artizans, small scale business associations, farmers, teachers, pensioners and NDC party faithfuls from Pusiga and Tempane in Garu as part of his two day Building Ghana Tour of the Region, Mr. Mahama stated that pensioners deserve better but through no fault of theirs they are going through suffering with some of them unable to meet their medical expenses because the government of the day decided to use their bond monies against their will.
He further indicated that the Tamni Dam project which was started during NDC regime had not seen any progress since the party left power in 2016 assuring residents that the dam whose irrigation area of 4000 to 5000 hectares was left unconstructed would be done immediately to attract youth of the area to irrigation farming as a source of livelihood adding it would go a long way to reduce the unemployment situation and mass drip of the youth down south in search of menial jobs.
