UE/R : SPORTING ACTIVITIES WILL SEE A BOOST UNDER MY PRESIDENCY – MAHAMA

By – Masahudu Jinkor

The Flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress, NDC and former President of the Republic of Ghana, Mr. John Dramani Mahama pledged to work closely with relevant stakeholders such as the Ghana Football Association, GFA as well as football enthusiasts to identify, unearth and nurse football talents through the provision of modern sports facilities in the country in areas that need them most adding that one such areas was Zebilla in the Bawku West District of the Upper East Region with many sports talents.

Addressing representatives of the Peasant Farmers Association, Market Queens, Custom Barrier Meat Sellers Association, Candoo Drivers Association, Zebilla Football Association as well as some members of the Small Scale Industries in Zebilla as part of his two day “Building Ghana Tour” of the region, Mr Mahama lamented the poor performance of the senior national team, the Black Stars in the ongoing 2023 African Cup of Nations being hosted by La Cote D’ Ivoire attributing the abysmal performance of the team to lack of using home grown and domesticated football talents.

Mr. Mahama stated that the Zebilla-Zabre road project which started during his time and had been abandoned by the current administration would be continued and completed to open up that stretch to enhance residents’ business with their neighbours across Burkina Faso.

The former President further announced plans by a new NDC administration to desilt the numerous dams dotted across the constituency to hold back enough water for dry season farming to florish. Zebilla Central Market would witness an upgrading to include more market stalls, places of convenience amidst tight security measures to avert any possible attacks on the Zebilla market women., he said.

He further intimated that the over 40 communities in the district which were supposed to be connected to the national electricity grid but had been denied because of their loyalty to the NDC would come to fruition should he be given the nod after 2024 general elections as the next President adding the President could not work effectively to impact on residents unless with an MP. He therefore appealled for massive votes for his PC come December 7 parliamentary elections
