The Upper East Regional Youth Wing of the National Democratic Congress has held its Regional Youth and Tertiary Educational Institutions Network (TEIN) Conference at the Bolgatanga Nursing Training College with a strong call on young people to remain hopeful, disciplined, and committed to national development.

The conference, held on Saturday, May 23, 2026, brought together national and regional party executives, TEIN members from various tertiary institutions, youth organisers, students, and party supporters across the Upper East Region.

Among the dignitaries present were the Upper East Regional Minister, Donatus Atanga Akamugri, Chairman of the National Youth Working Committee of the NDC, Prof.Michael Okai Mintah, and the Director General of the National Service Authority, Ruth Dela Seddoh, who attended as special guest.

Addressing participants, the Upper East Regional Youth Organiser of the NDC, Abraham Lambon, explained that the conference was organised to provide a mentorship platform for young people to interact with experienced leaders and learn valuable leadership lessons.
He encouraged the youth to take advantage of the opportunity to network with influential personalities and build meaningful relationships that could shape their future careers and leadership ambitions.

Mr. Lambon also announced scholarship opportunities for needy students in tertiary institutions across the region. According to him, each of the 11 tertiary institutions in the Upper East Region would receive ten scholarship slots through the support of the national youth leadership.

Speaking at the conference, the Regional Minister, Hon.Donatus Atanga Akamugri, acknowledged the growing unemployment challenges facing the youth in the country and assured them that the government was working tirelessly to create more opportunities.
He urged the youth to remain calm, focused, and trust in the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama and the policies being introduced to improve livelihoods.

Hon. Akamugri highlighted the government’s proposed 24 hour market economy initiative, explaining that it was aimed at creating employment opportunities for many young people, particularly women.

According to him, the initiative would help expand economic activities and create more openings in sectors such as banking, trading, and other business related industries.

He further stressed that the implementation of the 24 hour economy policy was intended to reduce unemployment and contribute to peace and stability in the country by improving economic opportunities for citizens.
The National TEIN Coordinator of the NDC, Dr. Mohammed Sadiq Gombilla, also called on the youth to remain patient and continue supporting the leadership of the party.

He stressed the importance of transparency and fairness in the distribution of opportunities and cautioned party officials against exploiting party supporters seeking assistance.

Dr. Gombilla reaffirmed the NDC’s commitment to creating opportunities for young people and students while encouraging TEIN members to remain loyal and dedicated to the ideals of the party.

The Upper East Regional Women’s Organiser of the NDC, Fauzia Abagna, encouraged young women interested in politics to take their education seriously and prepare themselves for leadership positions in the future.

She expressed her desire to see more women actively participating in politics and governance and urged female students not to shy away from pursuing political careers.

The conference formed part of efforts by the NDC youth wing to strengthen mentorship, leadership development, and youth participation within the party in the Upper East Region.
