UE/R: SOCO PROJECT FACILITATORS URGED TO WORK HARD FOR THE SUCCESS OF THE PROJECT – DCE NABDAM

The Kasena Nankana Municipal Assembly in the Upper East Region has organized its 3rd National Sanitation Day Clean Up Campaign with the active participation of the sitting MP, honourable Simon A. Aworigo, who described the day reinstituted by the, President John Dramani Mahama as important day for cleanliness, health and safety . He said over the years, governments have tried to ensure that they keep the communities and public places clean and this government led by President John Mahama, has made it a priority and has asked that all Assemblies organize the exercises in the first Saturday of every month because he realizes that it’s good to have a good and healthy society, that we spend less in the cost of health and also to ensure many people remain safe, and promote efficiency in productivity . According to him as a representative of the people who is serving as a good example for them to follow to fulfill the dreams of the president, was very enthused with the number of people who came out from far and near like Yua, Naaga and splited into groups for the exercise and expressed his gratitude to all of them, especially Mr Mohammed Billy group and the others, that have been doing it all the time, which he always join them anytime he’s around. To him cleanliness should be everyday thing and shared responsibility of the citizens, and even the way they dispose their waste, to avoid diseases and urged all the stakeholders like the Assembly, waste companies and the law enforcement agencies, to be up and doing by providing Bins to the people, emptying them timely and charging those who defaults, to improve the sanitation situation in the Municipality. Hon. Aworigo, added his voice to the Presiding member to decentralized the clean up exercise, because it is also an opportunity for all the people to socialize and share fresh ideas.
The Kasena Nankana Municipal Assembly, Presiding member, honourable Christopher Atiisigi thanked the MP for his attendance and his visibility in the Constituency, and the 39 honourable Assembly Members out of the 50 who turned out for the exercise saying that, it’s shows how commitment they are to the course of the National Sanitation Day Clean Up Campaign . He promised to table a motion in the Assembly for discussing on the decentralization of the exercise for all the people in the electoral areas or the zones, to also have a feel of it, because the dirt and filth is not just in the Navrongo alone. He said the day is also for the people to change their attitudes towards cleaning and, they have been carrying out a lot of sensitization programs to make the Municipality an enviable one in the whole of Ghana.
The Managing Director of ICOUR, Mr Dominic Anarigide, described the National Sanitation Day Clean Up Campaign as important day for them as farmers, that is why they honored the invitation in their numbers for the cleaning, because the food they eat, must be cleaned to promote health and productivity, and before this, they have cleaned their canals in zone B. He said, the day is also to instill positive attitudes to the citizens to be cleaning their surroundings so that a day like this when they come out to clean, they will have a little to do . The Kasena Nankana Municipal Chief Executive, honourable Faustina A. Abulu, expressed her profound gratitude to the MP, all the groups, Assembly Members the security services and all the people for their participation and commitment to the exercise and call for a sustained support to make the Municipality the most cleanest in the country
