UE/R: SOCO PROJECT FACILITATORS URGED TO WORK HARD FOR THE SUCCESS OF THE PROJECT – DCE NABDAM
BY: Raymond Wegwi
The Member of Parliament for Navrongo Central, honourable Simon A. Aworigo, said he’s people voted for him and the NDC party with an expectation, that they will get them jobs, good roads an improve agricultural sector, Education, Health , Businesses etc and as MP, for the good people of the Navrongo Central , he will continue to work hard in touching all the Ministries and Departments, and wherever help can come from, for them, and he has already started such moves, spending a good portion of the days in parliament to be running around in chasing things and he has begun seeing good things happening and next year would be very good as he continues to be their voice in parliament. He said the Manyoro bridge is very dear to his heart as a pregnant woman lost her life there recently unfortunately, expressed his condolences to the family and assured them that, he got in touch with the authority and they have come around to fix it very soon and other projects like Navrongo -Kologo -Naaga road, Wusugu and Gia bridges would also be work on soon and in terms of Agriculture ,he had a discussion with the sector minister to provide farm inputs to the farmers in the Constituency.

On the issue of the Navrongo Youth Resource center, he has got in touch with the right authorities, honourable Kofi Adams , Minister of sports, George Opare Addo , Minister of youth and Osman Ayariga of National Youth Authority, and they all assured him that, they will see to it completion very soon, because the delay is a contractual issue as the contractor wants a variation of the cost due to the time lapsed, that’s why he is not working and he will not also let it go. According to him, he personally placed a number of calls to the contractor to get his side of the story, but he couldn’t answer and he cannot hold the people of Upper East for a ransom especially the youth, simply he wants to charge more money and now he has been given a timeline to get back to work and if he fails, the contract will be abrogated and rewarded
The MP also humbly requested government through the president statement to the Buffer Stock to buy the glut products in the country, and other produce buying companies, to come and buy the grains, especially rice and vegetables like tomatoes, pepper, garden eggs from the farmers in the Constituency which are experiencing a glut now, as some of them have gone to take loans to produce and now begging for buyers, is very discouraging from farming, meanwhile we spent a lot importing rice into the country. The MP was addressing his constituents after this November’s 2025, National Sanitation Day Clean Up Campaign in Navrongo .
The Managing Director of ICOUR, Mr. Dominic Anarigide who was also present with his farmers said there was a lot of rice in the Municipality and the farmers are currently harvesting again and therefore he had an arrangement with a company to be supplying the farmers with farming inputs, for them to intern produce for them and they are also establishing a processing mill at Precast and by the end of this year it will be operational to serve as a ready Market for the farmers. According to the MD, he is also talking to the Buffer Stock to be buying from them, unfortunately they want milled rice not paddy and the farmers have no capacity to mill them so they are now looking at putting the farmers together to be able to do that, or get different entities to be buying from the farmers, mill and now sell to the Buffer Stock to reduce the glut in the market, because it’s discouraging to invest in production and at the end of it you can’t sell it to even recover your cost let alone make profit.
