BY: Raymond Wegwi.
Kalabash Aid begins intensive engagement with beneficiaries of the SOCO Local Economic Development (LED) intervention across the UE/R and NE/R to assess the performance of the project. Director of Kalabash Aid, Justin Adonadaga stated that, the inclusion of a social audit within the framework of the SOCO project is in the right direction as it compels service providers to improve accountability to service users. Various Common Interest Groups captured under the SOCO LED project that will be evaluated include Association of Masons, Electricians, Welders, Carpenters, Tailors, Tilers, Weavers, Shea butter producers, local restaurants, rice parboilers, petty traders and many others.
These categories of associations have received various products from the SOCO LED intervention and will be assessed on the impact of the support so far, challenges and their thoughts for improvement in the coming year.
The Gulf of Guinea Northern Regions Social Cohesion (SOCO) Project is being implemented by the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies of the Ministry of Local Government in five Northern Regions with funding from the World Bank through the Ministry of Finance.
