UE/R: SOCO PROJECT FACILITATORS URGED TO WORK HARD FOR THE SUCCESS OF THE PROJECT – DCE NABDAM
By Peter Agengre
The New Patriotic Party’s Parliamentary candidate for Bolgatanga East Constituency, Silas Mathew Amoah has donated GHc20, 000.00 to the Upper East Regional Hospital for the establishment of the dialysis centre.
He also used the opportunity to visit the facility to inspect progress of work on the project. He has also promised to buy three air conditioners to them when the structure is fully put up.
“I must commend the hospital administration and the media for the collaboration and good work for the facility to be established. As a BONABOTO member it was incumbent on me to donate to the fund so that my family and friends would benefit in the future. I must add that it is important for others to also donate to the fund for the speedy completion of the facility.” Mr. Amoah appealed.
The campaign for a dialysis centre for the Upper East Regional Hospital was launched in March 2023 to pull resources together to establish the facility. After the launch many individuals and organizations have contributed significantly to the fund for the establishment of the facility.
The Medical Director of the Hospital Aiden Saanwei disclosed that the hospital has procured two dialysis machines in addition to one that was donated to them by an organization. He was not happy that kidney cases are becoming rampant in the various health facilities and called for the quick response to the establishment of the facility.
“The hospital has already procured two machines, and we received one from an organization that donated one to us. If you look regionally, apart from the newly created regions we are the only region without a dialysis unit and we are determined to get that happen. Looking at the progress of work, I can say that by the close of the year hopefully, we should have the dialysis centre running.” Mr. Saanwei announced.
“We have invested heavily in getting the structure ready. We have sent the personnel out. Currently as we speak, nurses are in Koforidua for training and there is a doctor who is undergoing training at Korle Bu to come back and manage this unit.” He added.
The Medical Director also commended the parliamentary candidate for the visit and the donation, indicating that the gesture would encourage others to support them in many ways for them to complete the facility as soon as possible. He applauded the media for intensifying the campaign for the establishment of the dialysis unit. The team took a tour around the structure which has been put up for the facility.
