The Upper East Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Elvis Figo Awonekai, has officially appointed Wahid Nachienaba as his Political Assistant (PA), following a unanimous endorsement by the Regional Executive Committee

The appointment was formally announced on Friday, November 6, 2026, during the first Regional Executive Committee meeting under the leadership of Mr. Awonekai

In a statement issued on Friday November 6, 2026, the Regional Chairman described Mr. Nachienaba as a trusted confidant and dependable aide whose dedicated service has been instrumental throughout his political journey

Mr. Awonekai said his longstanding working relationship with Mr. Nachienaba dates back to his tenure as Deputy Regional Secretary, through his time as Regional Secretary, and during his six years of working life in the Tempane District

He further noted that Mr. Nachienaba had consistently demonstrated loyalty, commitment and competence, particularly in supporting his successful political campaigns

A professional teacher from Duadinyediga in the Gagbiri Electoral Area of the Tempane Constituency, Mr. Nachienaba is expected to undertake critical responsibilities, including high-level media engagements, emergency travel and frequent regional operations

The appointment also comes on the heels of Mr. Nachienaba’s recent elevation within the party’s Regional Youth Wing, where he was appointed Deputy Director in charge of Communications and New Media

According to the Regional Chairman, Mr. Nachienaba has formally accepted the responsibilities associated with his new role

Mr. Awonekai expressed confidence in his Political Assistant’s ability to support the effective execution of the Regional Executive Committee’s mandate, particularly the party’s ambition of securing the election of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as President of Ghana and increasing the NPP’s parliamentary representation

He said the appointment forms part of efforts to strengthen the party’s regional operations and consolidate the leadership’s commitment to achieving its political objectives
