UE/R: Peace Campaign Organized by Women in Broadcasting

By: Mary Aperika

Women in broadcasting in  the Upper East Region organized a peaceful campaign in the Bongo District. The campaign began at the chief’s Palace, moved through the market, and concluded at the Bongo district hospital.

The initiative aimed to inform market women and the residents of Bongo about the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections on December 7, 2024. Participants emphasized the importance of living in peace and encouraged voters to return home after casting their ballots, allowing the Electoral Commission to carry out its duties.

Paramount Chief Naba Salifu Biliabelum Kimalemyaarum expressed his appreciation for the women’s efforts, noting that politics in northern Ghana often fosters enmity rather than friendship. He urged the youth to avoid violence, stressing that conflict would only bring destruction to the people of Bongo and Ghana as a whole. The chief called on everyone to embrace peace during and after the elections.
