UE/R – Nayagenia Development Associate (NDA) celebrate their maiden festival call “Nayagenia Jeiro “

The Chiefs, elders and people of Nayagenia in Kasena Nankana Municipality in the Upper East Region through the Nayagenia Development Associate (NDA) organized their maiden festival call “Nayagenia Jeiro” at the Nayagenia Junior High School park under the theme “Unity for Development Festival” with the call for unity of purpose to achieve the needed development for the area and the Municipality as a whole.

The chairman of the durbar’s committee, Mr John Pwamang, said the central idea for organizing the durbar was to provide a platform that, will highlight their common identity, socialize, interact and have fun and in addition also serves as an avenue to highlight the need for them to work together in the pursuit of their common developmental needs and develop interventions for the progress and the well-being of the community members..He noted,As the saying goes “There’s nowhere like home” On the relevance of the durbar on that day.

Mr John Pwamang said the esense is to reignite the spirit of their forebears in line with Unity and Development in the community which is a cardinal reason hinged on the following: One ,to bring the chiefs and people of the community together, create an environment for their cultural and traditions to work together seamlessly , peaceful co-existence and for the youth to realize their potentials , empowered the women and to contribute to the general development of the Kasena Nankana area.

The president of the Nayagenia Development Associate (NDA) Mr Lawrence L. Anuseh who gave the overview of the associate said ,Nayagenia is a community with settlers from different places in Navrongo and Nayagenia is known as the United States of Nayagenia (USN) because of their unity of ideas and development which they always harnessed their potentials in unity for the development of the community like their forefathers and mothers did in the past. According to him in the past the organized homecoming programmes to reignite that unity started by their forebears which activities birthed certain development programmes and enhanced their social status , and the need to foster a more challenged developmental desire which then culminated to the birthing of “Nayagenia Jeiro” concept which is all -inlusive comprises of those in Ghana and diaspora to actively participate in the development of the Nayagenia community.

This year ,the Nayagenia Jeiro concept focuses on four main interventions which are traditional issues, Developmental issues,Youth and Women development which are all been numerated by the chairman of the durbar’s committee, Mr John Pwamang which includes to bring improved traditional governance, developments, Youth and Women development in the community.

The president of the Nayagenia Development Associate used the occasion to thank the chiefs and elders and all those who supported them for the successful Nayagenia Jeiro programme especially the Twelium Industries limited, Consumer Insights Consult limited, House of Drugs Pharmacy and Divine Water for sponsoring this year’s programme. The marketing manager of the Twelium Industries limited, the lead sponsor of the programme said they were very excited for been part of the durbar because it’s very rare these days to see people coming together like the Nayagenia Development Associate and therefore it was really very inspiring for the planning committee to involved them ,adding that it’s also speaks to their kind of prestige and Name the have been able to established for themselves and promised the company’s readiness to always support them.

The Chief of Nayaginia, Pe Daniel Pwamang, call for peace and unity of purpose for development. He cautioned the youth against excessive alcohol intake and rather take good care of their lives and avoid divisive politics that will be having the tendency of dividing them. The Chief also called for the desilting of the existing dams to help the people in the dry season farming.

The Kasena Nankana municipal Chief Executive, honourable Joseph Adongo who represented the Regional Minister, said the theme “Unity for Development” resonate deeply with the esense of progress, a collective journey towards building stronger, more prosperous community and the nation as a whole ,adding that it’s speaks volumes of about shared responsibilities to come together irrespective of their different and work towards goals that will uplift and power every member of nayagenia community and the Municipality as a whole.

The MCE explained that, development in it’s true form is no mainly a measured by infrastructure advancement or economic prosperity, it’s also define by cohesion, inclusivity, and well-being of the people, therefore true development encompasses the improvement of livelihoods, the preservation of our cultural heritage and the nurturing of our Youth to become empowered leaders of tomorrow.

He said our efforts to preserve our culture will not yield the desired dividends if as a Municipality we do not stop certain cultural and bad behaviors such as female genital mutilation, forced marriage, teenage pregnancy, stealing amongst others which are the tendencies that ruin our culture. Hon Joseph Adongo took the opportunity to urged the your to take advantage of the policies and programmes rollout by the NPP government such as planting for food and Jobs, Rearing for food and export, Ghana Jobs and skills programme amongst others to better their lot.

There were a lot of singing, drumming and dancing amidst with colorful regalia of the chiefs and elders from all the communities of Nayagenia and the invited neighboring communities.
