UE/R : LATE JOHN AKOLGO TIAH LAID TO REST AT HIS HOMETOWN, DUUSI

The former Member of Parliament for the Talensi Constituency of the Upper East Region and Minister for Information Hon. John Akolgo Tiah who passed away few weeks ago had been laid to rest at his hometown at Duusi in the Talensi District of the Upper East Region over the weekends.

Rev. Fr. James Achaa who officiated the burial mass said corruption in any form could only be fought when everyone desires it. He bemoaned instances where job seekers were asked to pay monies to recruitment authorities before being enlisted into jobs saying once the person does not work and probably parents were not able to feed properly how do you expect them to get the money. He explained that such a person after getting the job too the person would be looking for opportunities to extort money from others.. He called on all servants of the Almighty to fear God in order to change the narrative. This we could all do by changing our attitudes in our various endeavours.

URA News interaction with the member of Parliament for Zebilla, Hon. Cletus Apul Avoka who was the Funeral Committee Chairman described the late John Tiah Akolgo as a doyen of Ghanaian politics one of who sacrificed his life not only for the National Democratic Congress but for Ghana as a whole adding the late Hon. Akolgo Tiah had his constituents at heart the reason most development projects spread across the constituency were attributed to him.

The former President of the Republic of Ghana who doubles as the Presidential Candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress, NDC, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama has assured the clergy and all peace loving Ghanaians of a peaceful election come December 7 this year. He appealed to the Men of God saying as they preach for peace, they should always preach justice as well. The former President who is seeking re-election however warned that though he and his party stood for peace before, during and after this year’s general elections, any attempt by the government of the New Patriotic Party, NPP to rig this years elections would be resisted with the force that it deserved.

Mr. Mahama was delivering his goodwill message to sympathizers at the burial mass for the late Ambassador John Akolgo Tiah who was the former Ghana’s Ambassador to Cuba during his regime.

An amount of GHC 50,000 was donated to the bereaved family for and on behalf of the party by the party’s Upper East Regional secretary, Donatus Akamukre. There were other similar donations by NPP led by the Talensi DCE, well wishers and sympathizers from far and near.

NDC delegation to the funeral included , Julius Debra, former chief of staff, Alhaji Hudu Yahaya, former general secretary, Nana Ato Achar, Albert Abongo for MP for Bongo and miister for Upper East, Hon. Moses Asaga, former MP for Nabdam and deputy minister for finance, Hon. Kuganab-Lem former MP for Binduri, Peter Anafure former MD, SICLife, Lawyer James Agalga, Member of Parliament for Builsa North and leader of Upper Parliamentary Caucus, UE NDC Chairman Alhaji Mumuni Bolnaba and National Chairman of NDC Johnson Asiedu Nketiah.
