Esther Yinlomah Yintii, a certified nurse from Kulpelga in the Talensi District and the Miss Upper East Ghana 2022 Queen. She is setting her sights on the prestigious Face of Northern Ghana 2024 title. Lomah, a graduate of WA Nursing Training College, has been actively involved in community-based projects since winning her regional crown and is now leveraging her platform to further empower the youth, particularly young girls, in the Upper East Region and beyond.

Queen Lomah, as she is affectionately known, became Miss Upper East in 2022 after a challenging yet rewarding journey that included competing in cultural performances, such as the Yongo dance from her district. She also spearheaded a road safety awareness project in collaboration with the Ghana Road Safety Authority and the National Traffic and Transport Department (NTTD). Her efforts led to educating pedestrians and marketplace operators on safety practices, as well as distributing helmets to those unable to afford them.

As part of her campaign for the Face of Northern Ghana 2024, Lomah has launched a new project aimed at educating young girls on the dangers of early marriage and promoting skills acquisition. Over the next two to three weeks, she will tour 18 schools across the Upper East Region, engaging students in both primary, Junior high and senior high schools. The initiative will focus on practical skills training such as liquid soap production, satellite dish installation, and CCTV camera setup, empowering young people with knowledge and vocational abilities to improve their future.

Speaking on URA Radio’s URA Market Place program with Gladys Apuweni( Host), she says Her mission extends beyond just winning titles; it is about creating lasting change in her community. “One of the key attributes of a queen is confidence, and Miss Upper East Ghana gave me the platform to come out of my shell,” Lomah said. “Face of Northern Ghana presents an even bigger opportunity for exposure and growth, and I’m ready for the challenge.”

Lomah’s project also seeks to educate parents and guardians on the negative effects of child marriage, stressing the impact it has on families and society as a whole. In addition to her hands-on training, she plans to provide mentorship and counseling support to young girls, encouraging them to pursue education and vocational skills rather than falling victim to early marriage.

The project is funded through Lomah’s personal savings, as well as contributions from friends, family, and other interested organizations. She credits her community for rallying behind her efforts and providing much-needed support.

As Lomah gears up for the Face of Northern Ghana 2024 competition, she remains focused on representing her region with pride and integrity. “I’m grateful for the platform that Miss Upper East gave me, but Face of Northern Ghana is a much bigger stage, with four regions involved. I’m excited for the exposure and the opportunity to grow even more.”

Queen Lomah’s journey thus far has been marked by hard work and dedication. Addressing the common belief that beauty pageants are rife with favoritism, she dismissed such claims, stating, “Pageantry is all about hard work and votes. The judges are genuine, and they correct you to help you grow. It’s up to you to give your best and rise to the challenge.”

With a history of community service and a clear passion for youth empowerment, Queen Lomah is poised to make a significant impact, both in the competition and in her community. As she prepares to step into the spotlight of the Face of Northern Ghana 2024 pageant, the people of Upper East are eagerly watching, confident that she will once again do them proud.
