UE/R: SOCO PROJECT FACILITATORS URGED TO WORK HARD FOR THE SUCCESS OF THE PROJECT – DCE NABDAM

The Bolgatanga Municipal directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has organized a community engagement at Sokabisi in the Bolgatanga Municipality of the Upper East Region on Preventing and Containing Violent Extremism (PCVE)
Issues discussed with the participants include vulnerabilities to joining extremist groups, the negative effects of violent extremism, and the role citizens can play in preventing and containing violent extremism.
Mr Jafaru Alsadiq Omar, the Bolgatanga Municipal Director of NCCE, said the main goal of the project was to fight organized crime, promote respect for human rights and rule of law through equipping the youth with relevant information on violent extremism and radicalism and to guide them from being recruited to cause violence.
He urged the youth to be watch dogs of their communities and report any suspicious characters to the police.
The engagement was attended by representatives of political parties, Peace Council, religious, Civil society organisations (CSOs),, traditional authorities,people living with disabilities, youth associations,women groups and the Media.
