Speaker Bagbin Recalls Parliament for Urgent Five-Day Sitting

Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has officially recalled Parliament from recess to consider urgent parliamentary business

The directive, issued on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, was made pursuant to Order 58(4) of the Standing Orders of the Parliament of Ghana. Parliament is scheduled to reconvene at 12:00 noon on Monday, August 24, 2026, and will sit until Friday, August 28, 2026, at Parliament House in Accra

According to the notice signed by the Speaker, Members of Parliament are required to return from recess to deliberate on urgent parliamentary business. However, the specific matters to be considered during the five-day sitting were not disclosed

The recall comes less than a month after Parliament adjourned for recess and underscores the importance of the issues expected to be placed before the House

Further details on the agenda for the emergency sitting are expected to be announced in due course
