NE/R : GIVEN ME THE NOD I WILL ESTABLISH A CEMENT FACTORY AT GBANGDAA- MR. MAHAMA

By Masahudu Jinkor

The National Democratic Congress, NDC Presidential candidate for the 2024 general elections and the former President of the Republic of Ghana His Excellency John Dramani Mahama has said he would establish a cement factory in Gbangdaa, a community where lithium deposit in large quantities had been discovered near Nalerigu the North East Regional capital adding the establishment of this factory would create direct and indirect jobs for the teeming unemployed youth thereby reducing the high rate of unemployment in the country.

Mr. Mahama who disclosed these during a courtesy call on the Nayiri, Naa Bohagu Abdulai Mahami Sheriga at the Nayiri Palace as part of activities to climax his “Building Ghana Tour”in Nalerigu yesterday also pledged to put up a public university or a campus of an existing public university at the region to bring university education very close to the door step of residents of the new region.

He stated that it was his campaign promise run up to the 2020 elections to establish a public university or a campus of an existing public university in all the six newly created regions in the country for which the North East Region was one.

Mr. Mahama who was accompanied in the tour by some party bigwigs such as Alhaji Haruna Iddrisu, Member of Parliament for Tamale South and former minority leader in parliament, Nana Ato Archarh, former Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, Chief Azoka, Member of Parliament for the Nalerigu/Gambaga Constituency Alhaji Baba Issifu Seidu, North East Regional NDC party elders and the NDC Parliamentary Candidates from all the six constituencies of the region also promised the Nayiri that the region stands to benefit from a Military Barracks should he be given the nod as the next President of the Republic of Ghana. According to him, this has become necessary due to a number of terrorists attacks recorded in some neighbouring communities across Burkina Faso and Togo. The establishment of the Military Barracks would not only accomplish the dreams of the young potential security personnel but would also ensure Ghana’s border to the east was kept on consistent checks against potential terrorists activities.

The Nayiri, Naa Bohagu Abdulai Mahami Sheriga who spoke through his chief linguist thanked the former President describing him as a good son for the foresight and vision for the region. The Nayiri appealed for a split of the Nalerigu/Gambaga Constituency into two to fastrack developments in the area. He pledged his support saying the Gods of the land of Mamprugu would see him through
