NDC’s Massive 2024 Votes in Upper East Deserve Better Roads — NPP’s Alhassan Adam Zeeba Criticises Government

A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Upper East Regional Communications Team, Alhassan Adam Zeeba, has criticised the government’s performance in road construction in the Upper East Region, describing it as falling below the belt considering the massive votes secured by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2024 general elections

Speaking on the Bissa-language political programme KU BINKARE SUURA on GBC URA Radio 89.7MHz in Bolgatanga on Monday, September 14, 2026, Mr. Zeeba questioned whether government’s development priorities were adequately responding to the needs of communities in the region

The discussion, which focused on the topic Accra-Kumasi Expressway – Development for the Nation or Survival for Neglected Communities examined the government’s road infrastructure agenda against the challenges confronting communities that continue to face serious road-related difficulties

Mr. Zeeba argued that while major national infrastructure projects such as the proposed Accra-Kumasi Expressway may be important for Ghana’s broader development, attention must also be given to communities and regions that continue to struggle with poor road networks

He maintained that the Upper East Region should see a stronger commitment to road construction and rehabilitation, particularly given the significant electoral support the NDC received from the region in the 2024 elections

According to him, government must ensure that development projects are not concentrated in areas with high economic activity at the expense of communities that have long demanded improved infrastructure

The NPP communicator’s comments come amid renewed public discussion over the government’s plans for major road infrastructure, including the Accra-Kumasi Expressway, and whether such projects adequately address the immediate development needs of underserved communities

He called for a balanced approach to infrastructure development that would combine major national projects with targeted investments in regions and communities facing critical infrastructure deficits
