Accra-Kumasi Expressway Will Be a Game Changer — NDC’s Tanimu Issah

By – Osman Masahudu Jinkor

A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Upper East Regional Communications Team, Tanimu Issah, has described the proposed Accra-Kumasi Expressway as a transformative project capable of significantly changing Ghana’s transport and economic landscape when completed

According to him, the project will not only improve road connectivity between major parts of the country but will also create substantial employment opportunities and reduce road-related challenges

Speaking on the Bissa-language political programme KU BINKARE SUURA on GBC URA Radio 89.7MHz in Bolgatanga on Monday, September 14, 2026, Mr. Issah said the expressway would generate direct and indirect jobs for people living along the route

He explained that the economic activities expected to emerge around the expressway could provide new opportunities for businesses and communities located along the corridor

Mr. Issah further argued that the completion of the project would contribute to a reduction in road accidents, particularly through improved road infrastructure and safer travelling conditions

He also highlighted the potential reduction in travel time, saying the expressway would make movement between Accra and Kumasi faster and more efficient for motorists, passengers and businesses

The NDC communicator was speaking on the topic: Accra-Kumasi Expressway – Development for the Nation or Survival for Neglected Communities

He maintained that although communities across the country have legitimate demands for improved infrastructure, the Accra-Kumasi Expressway should be viewed as a major national development project with benefits extending beyond the two major cities

Mr. Issah’s comments come amid growing public debate over government’s road infrastructure priorities and whether major national projects adequately address the immediate needs of communities facing poor road networks
