UE/R: SOCO PROJECT FACILITATORS URGED TO WORK HARD FOR THE SUCCESS OF THE PROJECT – DCE NABDAM
By – Sadat Dabo
A long-serving National Democratic Congress (NDC) activist and current Upper East Regional Communication Officer, Jonathan Abdallah Salifu, has formally expressed his intention to contest the position of Upper East Regional Secretary when nominations open
In a strongly worded message to party stakeholders, Mr. Salifu is positioning his more than two decades of experience within the NDC as a key reason he should be entrusted with the party’s regional secretariat
Under the headline “A Record Built Through Service. A Leadership Ready for the Region,” Mr. Salifu said his political journey has taken him through the party’s structures from the branch level to the regional level
He recalled beginning his service as a Branch Executive at Tindonsoe in 2006, before serving as Deputy Constituency Youth Organiser and Constituency Secretary for the Bolgatanga Central Constituency
He currently serves as the NDC Upper East Regional Communication Officer
According to Mr. Salifu, his years of service have gone beyond holding political positions, arguing that they have given him a deeper understanding of the party’s structures, grassroots politics and the organisational demands of the NDC.
“I have not only held positions; I have learned the Party, served its people, and earned valuable experience along the way,” he stated
A Direct Challenge for the Regional Secretariat
Mr. Salifu said after extensive consultation with party stakeholders and deep reflection, he has decided to offer his experience, energy and commitment for the position of Regional Secretary.
He is appealing to government appointees, former appointees, Members of Parliament, party executives at all levels, party elders and grassroots members to support his bid
He said he is seeking the mandate with “humility, confidence and a clear sense of responsibility” to the party and its members across the region
The Work Ahead Requires Unity
The aspiring Regional Secretary said the NDC in the Upper East Region needs unity, experience, strong organisation and renewed energy to consolidate its gains and strengthen its structures.
“Together, let us consolidate the gains made, strengthen our structures and move the Upper East NDC forward,” he said
Mr. Salifu’s declaration is expected to intensify the contest for the NDC Upper East Regional Secretary position as aspirants position themselves ahead of the party’s internal elections
