BOLGATANGA – NCCE appeal to youth in School to join the Fight Against Corruption

The Bolgatanga Municipal Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE ) held a symposium for Members of Civic Education Club of Zamse Senior High Technical School in the Upper East Region. On the 26th May, 2026.

The engagements aimed to enhance awareness and understanding on ethical standards for Transparency, accountability, Integrity, and the Rule of Law, among youth in senior and tertiary institutions. on transparency, demand for accountability and respect for the rule of law as important elements in the fight against corruption.

The activity forms part of the Commission’s project implementation on the Rule of Law and the Fight Against Corruption.

In partnership with Deutsche Gesellschaft ür Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and co-funded by the European Union (EU).

The Municipal Director of NCCE, Omar Jafaru Alsadiq in his welcome address said, the symposium is to empower the youth in school with practical knowledge on ethical standards for Accountability, Integrity, the Rule of Law, Civic Rights, and their role in promoting holistic development of the nation.

The engagements intended to groom the youth to become responsible citizens for the country.

Mr. Silas Ayaaba , A programs Director at Afrikids -Ghana), engaged the students on Conflict of Interest in Public and Institutional Decision Making, Influence Peddling and Abuse of Office. The Rule of Law and Ethical Leadership Standards.

Mr. Nyaaba said the level of corruption being witnessed in the country, is being perpetuated by our own people, and not foreigners. Thereby providing training for the youth of the country, on ethical standards, Accountability, Integrity, and the Rule of Law, is the surest way for the nation to succeed in her fight against corruption.

Mr. Silas admonished the students to imbibe high moral standards, integrity, accountability, respect for the rule of law in the society. He encourages the youth to choose dialogue instead of violent confrontations, in seeking redress for their grievances.

He said, that youth rioting affects public order, which opposes rule of law in the society.  Mr. Silas also applauded the NCCE for the anti- corruption activities, which will build a resilient corruption free society for the future of Ghana.

At the open forum, students (Pelabia Aiden), also appealed that leaders in the society should lead exemplary life on ethical standards, for the youth to emulate in service delivery in the country.  A member of CEC (Atule Miriam) also expressed words of gratitude’s to the NCCE for providing such insightful engagements, and promise that information received will be put into practice, to support the fight against corruption in the country.

Mr. Isaac Nachinab (CEC Patron for the School), in his closing remarks, applauded the NCCE for her continues sensitization of students, which has enhanced civic rights and responsibilities among students which has benefited the school as a whole. He added that this particular symposium will go a long way to strengthening students and administration for congenial learning environment, for the school to produce responsible citizens for mother Ghana.
