The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has appointed Alhaji Bashiru Ibrahim, a prominent party figure from the Tempane Constituency in the Upper East Region, as its Deputy National Director in Charge of Training and Capacity Building
The appointment places the former Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) in a strategic position to contribute to the development of party members, strengthen leadership skills and improve the effectiveness of the party’s organisational structures across the country
Alhaji Bashiru, who is of Mossi ethnic descent, has built his political profile through years of involvement in the NPP, including his service as the Upper East Regional Youth Organiser and his previous bid to become the party’s parliamentary candidate for the Tempane Constituency
From Regional Youth Leadership to National Assignment
His experience as the NPP’s Upper East Regional Youth Organiser gave him an opportunity to participate in grassroots mobilisation and youth engagement within the region
Youth leadership remains an important component of political organisation, particularly in building party structures, encouraging participation and preparing the next generation of political leaders
His elevation to a national position represents a continuation of his involvement in the party’s organisational work, with responsibilities now extending to training and capacity building
Former YEA Deputy CEO Brings Public-Sector Experience
Alhaji Bashiru also served as Deputy CEO of the Youth Employment Agency, where his work was associated with youth employment, skills development and efforts to improve opportunities for young people
His experience in public administration and youth development could prove valuable in his new role, particularly in designing and supporting training initiatives that equip party members and officials with practical knowledge and leadership skills
Tempane Parliamentary Aspirant
Beyond his regional party leadership and public-sector experience, Alhaji Bashiru previously contested for the NPP parliamentary candidacy in the Tempane Constituency
His political involvement reflects his longstanding interest in party affairs and representation in the Upper East Region
His appointment is also a notable development for the Tempane Constituency, which has produced a political figure now taking on a national-level responsibility within the NPP
Expectations for the New Role
As Deputy National Director in Charge of Training and Capacity Building, Alhaji Bashiru is expected to contribute to strengthening the knowledge, competence and organisational effectiveness of party members
His portfolio is important to preparing party executives, communicators and grassroots organisers for their responsibilities, while promoting leadership development and stronger coordination within the party
With his background in youth organising and public-sector administration, attention will be on how he helps advance the NPP’s training agenda and build a more effective organisational structure ahead of future elections
The appointment marks a new chapter in Alhaji Bashiru Ibrahim’s political journey, bringing his experience from the Upper East Region to the NPP’s national leadership structure
