UE/R: SOCO PROJECT FACILITATORS URGED TO WORK HARD FOR THE SUCCESS OF THE PROJECT – DCE NABDAM
By – Sadat Dabo
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has appointed Prince Kamal Gumah, popularly known as PKG, as its Deputy National Organizer, bringing a familiar face in party activism and business from Bawku in the Upper East Region into the party’s national organisational structure
Prince Kamal, a Mamprusi from Bawku and Chief Executive Officer of Gumah FM, is expected to contribute to efforts to strengthen the party’s grassroots structures, improve internal coordination and energise its political base ahead of the 2028 general elections
His appointment comes at a critical period for the NPP as the party works to consolidate its internal structures, reconnect with supporters and develop an effective mobilisation strategy following its 2026 national executive elections
His strategic partnership with National Organizer Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover is expected to provide an opportunity to reinforce the party’s organisational wing and coordinate grassroots engagement towards the NPP’s Victory 2028 agenda
A political journey rooted in Bawku
Prince Kamal’s political involvement dates back to his teenage years. He comes from a family with a longstanding association with the NPP’s Danquah-Busia-Dombo political tradition. His father, Ahmed Awudu Gumah, was reported to have served as Bawku Constituency Chairman of the party from 1994 to 2005
These early experiences helped shape his involvement in party organisation and political mobilisation over the years
Experience in diaspora party organisation
Prince Kamal has also built experience within the NPP’s North American structures.
He served as Deputy Youth Organizer of the NPP USA Extended Branch and previously held the position of Nasara Coordinator of the party’s New Jersey Chapter from 2014 to 2018
He subsequently served as an organiser within the New Jersey branch and participated in activities aimed at strengthening the party’s presence and support networks outside Ghana
His involvement in diaspora politics has given him exposure to party organisation beyond the domestic political environment, experience that could be valuable in mobilising supporters, coordinating volunteers and strengthening communication between party structures
A record of grassroots advocacy and mobilisation
Prince Kamal has previously placed considerable emphasis on grassroots participation, youth empowerment and the provision of resources to party structures
During his campaign for National Youth Organizer in 2022, he outlined proposals centred on opportunities and resources, training and capacity building, and welfare for party youth
He also advocated stronger support for the Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON), youth volunteer groups and constituency youth organisers, arguing that effective grassroots structures were essential to electoral success
Although he did not secure the National Youth Organizer position in that contest, his continued involvement in party affairs has kept him within the conversation on grassroots organisation and youth participation
What his appointment could mean for the NPP
The Deputy National Organizer position places Prince Kamal in a potentially significant role as the party prepares for the next general election
Working with Titus-Glover, he could help advance initiatives focused on strengthening constituency and polling-station structures, improving communication with party members, supporting grassroots organisers and coordinating mobilisation activities
The effectiveness of the appointment, however, will ultimately depend on the responsibilities assigned to him, the resources available to the organisational wing and the ability of the national leadership to translate its plans into practical action across the country
For the NPP, the challenge is not simply to appoint experienced officials but to build a cohesive organisation capable of engaging voters, resolving internal disagreements and sustaining a strong presence in communities
Looking towards Victory 2028
With the 2028 general elections approaching, the NPP faces the task of rebuilding momentum and presenting a compelling case to Ghanaian voters
Prince Kamal’s background in Bawku, his business experience through Gumah FM and his involvement in diaspora party organisation could offer useful perspectives as the party seeks to strengthen its national reach
His appointment also brings attention to the contribution of political actors from the Upper East Region to the NPP’s national leadership and organisational development
The expectation among party supporters will be that PKG converts his experience and networks into practical results, particularly in grassroots mobilisation, internal coordination and support for constituency-level structures
For Prince Kamal Gumah, the new role represents an opportunity to move from years of political activism and organisational involvement into a broader national assignment
Whether the partnership with Titus-Glover can help deliver the organisational renewal the NPP needs ahead of 2028 will be measured by the strength of its grassroots structures, the commitment of its members and, ultimately, the party’s performance at the polls
