The leadership of the Health Services Workers’ Union of TUC Ghana is proud to announce another remarkable milestone in advancing workers’ solidarity and organized labour in Ghana’s health sector. In line with one of the cardinal objectives of the National Union — the unionization and organization of private health facilities across the country — the Upper East Regional Council has successfully brought on board AMEG Company Limited, a private health cleaning facility, into the great family of the Union.

This historic achievement was officially marked with an inauguration ceremony held today, Tuesday, 26th May 2026, where workers of AMEG Company Limited were formally inducted as members of the Union. The occasion signified a major step forward in strengthening workers’ representation, promoting decent work, and deepening labour relations within private sector health-related institutions in the Upper East Region.

The program brought together distinguished leaders of the Union at both the national and regional levels, whose presence demonstrated the importance attached to the growth and expansion agenda of the Union. Among the dignitaries in attendance were the 2nd National Vice Chairperson, Ajaratu Issah; the Upper East Regional Chairperson, Angela Agambila Ayinne; the Regional 1st Vice Chairperson, Derick Boateng Essein; the Regional Women’s Committee Chairperson, Selma Addih Asolam; and the Regional Industrial Relations Officer, Joseph Jones Paa Kwasi Boakye Nomocle.

Addressing the gathering, the Union leadership emphasized the importance of unity among workers and the need for employees in private health establishments to embrace collective organization as a means of protecting their rights and improving their working conditions. Speakers reiterated that unionization remains a powerful instrument for promoting social dialogue, industrial harmony, occupational safety, fair remuneration, and the overall welfare of workers.

The inauguration of AMEG Company Limited into the Union fold is not only a victory for the workers of the company but also a clear indication that the vision of the National Union to extend its reach across private health institutions is yielding positive results. The leadership commended the courage and commitment demonstrated by the workers of AMEG Company Limited for taking the bold decision to join the Union and assured them of continuous support, education, representation, and empowerment.

The 2nd National Vice Chairperson, Sister Ajaratu Issah, in her remarks, applauded the Upper East Regional leadership for their relentless efforts in organizing workers and strengthening the Union’s structures within the region. She encouraged the newly inaugurated members to remain united, disciplined, and committed to the principles and objectives of the Union. According to her, organized labour remains one of the strongest pillars for ensuring fairness, dignity, and justice at the workplace.

The Regional Chairperson, Sister Angela Agambila Ayinne, also expressed profound appreciation to the management and workers of AMEG Company Limited for embracing the ideals of trade unionism. She reaffirmed the Regional Council’s commitment to ensuring effective collaboration, education, and engagement with members to achieve a mutually beneficial working environment.

Speaking on behalf of the regional leadership, Brother Joseph Jones Paa Kwasi Boakye Nomocle, the Regional Industrial Relations Officer, described the occasion as a strategic breakthrough in the Union’s organizational drive within private facilities in the region. He noted that the inclusion of AMEG Company Limited into the Union fold would further strengthen the collective voice of workers and inspire many other private facilities to follow the path of organized labour.

The event was characterized by solidarity messages, education on union principles, and a renewed commitment by members to uphold the values of unity, accountability, hard work, and collective responsibility. The newly inaugurated members expressed gratitude to the leadership of the Union for the opportunity to become part of a larger movement dedicated to defending and advancing the interests of workers.

As the Health Services Workers’ Union of TUC Ghana continues to expand its frontiers, this achievement stands as a testimony to the dedication and strategic leadership of the Union in championing the cause of workers across both public and private health institutions in Ghana.

Indeed, the unionization of AMEG Company Limited marks another giant stride in building a stronger, united, and more inclusive labour movement for the benefit of all health service workers in the country.
