BY: GIDEON K.
The Upper East Regional Teachers and Educational Workers Union (TEWU) of TUC, led by the Regional Principal Industrial Relations Officer, Bro. Mathew Abeaba Aberania, has extended solidarity to the Gbeogo School for the Deaf located in the Talensi District following a devastating fire outbreak at the girls’ dormitory.

Bro. Aberania expressed deep sympathy to the school authorities, staff, and students, assuring them of TEWU’s unwavering support during this difficult period. He emphasized that the union stands firmly with the institution and its learners in the face of adversity. Given that some staff of the institution are valued members of TEWU, the leadership deemed it imperative to show solidarity with them during this difficult time. This gesture reaffirmed TEWU’s commitment to protecting the welfare of its members wherever they serve.

Importantly, the IRO called on stakeholders, benevolent organizations, and community leaders to come to the aid of the school, stressing that urgent intervention is needed to restore the affected facilities and provide relief to the students. He noted that aside from the destruction of properties, monies contributed by parents and guardians for the upkeep of the children were also burnt in the fire, compounding the hardship faced by the school community.

The visit reaffirmed TEWU’s commitment to unity, compassion, and advocacy for vulnerable communities. The leadership pledged to collaborate with partners in mobilizing resources to aid recovery efforts, ensuring that the school emerges stronger from this setback.
