International Literacy Day 2024 is celebrated annually to raise awareness on the significance of literacy as a fundamental human right and a matter of dignity. It seeks to promote literacy and contribute to building a more literate and sustainable life. The Day is marked by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) across the world. At the local level in the Talensi District of the Upper East Region, the Bible Society of Ghana partnered with the Sweden Mission Council to observe the day with emphasis on the study and practice of the Gurune Language.
