BY: GIDEON K.

The Upper East Regional Women and Youth Leadership of the Teachers and Educational Workers Union (TEWU) has successfully organized a one‑day training workshop focused on strengthening workplace resilience and personal development.

Held at the Catholic Social Center Conference Hall in Bolgatanga, the workshop brought together Women and Youth Regional committee leadership of the Union  to explore two critical themes:

  • Work and Mental Health
  • Emotional Intelligence and Maintenance

Participants engaged in interactive sessions that highlighted the importance of balancing professional responsibilities with mental well‑being. Facilitators emphasized practical strategies for managing stress, fostering emotional awareness, and building supportive work environments.

The program was led by Sis. Felicia Kraka, the Northern Regional Secretary of TUC, a seasoned communicator, gender activist, and a well‑resourced advocate for women and youth empowerment. Her expertise and passion inspired participants to embrace emotional intelligence as a cornerstone for effective leadership and workplace harmony.

In his opening remarks, Bro. Mathew Abeaba Aberania, the Regional Principal Industrial Relations Officer, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the National Leadership of TEWU for their unwavering support in making the program a success. He further encouraged participants not to gate‑keep the knowledge gained, but rather to transfer the message to the wider union membership, ensuring that the lessons on mental health and emotional intelligence reach the grassroots. His acknowledgment underscored the collaborative spirit and solidarity that continue to drive the union’s initiatives.

This initiative reflects TEWU’s commitment to empowering women and youth leaders with the tools to navigate modern educational challenges. By prioritizing mental health and emotional intelligence, the union continues to champion holistic development for its members.

The workshop concluded with a renewed call for solidarity, encouraging participants to apply the lessons learned in their workplaces and communities.
