UE/R: SOCO PROJECT FACILITATORS URGED TO WORK HARD FOR THE SUCCESS OF THE PROJECT – DCE NABDAM

The countdown to the 5th Upper East Regional Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Awards has officially begun, with major corporate institutions throwing their weight behind this year’s event at a colourful launch ceremony held on Friday, September 4
The launch, attended by the Upper East Regional Minister, Donatus Akamugri Atanga, marked the official commencement of activities leading to the prestigious awards ceremony scheduled for October 2, 2026
In a major boost to the awards, construction firm MyTurn Limited and bulk beverage distributors Lesken Enterprise Limited presented a sponsorship package, earning the distinction of Headline Sponsors for this year’s event
The awards also received renewed backing from Kacstone Records and the Paga Youth Movement, both of which pledged their support as Main Sponsors for the second consecutive year, reaffirming their commitment to promoting excellence in journalism in the Upper East Region
A key highlight of the launch was the swearing-in of the Awards Vetting Committee, tasked with ensuring a credible and transparent adjudication process. The committee comprises Dr. Benjamin Asunka and Dr. Samuel Akapule, both of the Communications Department of the Bolgatanga Technical University, as well as Madam Fatima Anafu Astanga of the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Bolgatanga
Speaking at the event, the Upper East Regional Chairman of the GJA, Albert Sore, expressed profound appreciation to the sponsors for their confidence in the association and appealed to other corporate bodies and individuals to come on board to support what he described as the biggest media event in the region
The 5th Upper East Regional GJA Awards is expected to honour outstanding journalists and media practitioners whose work has contributed significantly to the development of the region and Ghana’s media landscape
The awards night is slated for Friday, October 2, 2026
