The newly elected Upper East Regional Executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), led by the Regional Chairman, Elvis Figo Awonekai, on Friday, August 21, 2026, paid their first official courtesy call on the party’s 2028 Presidential Flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, in Accra.

The meeting marked the executives’ first major engagement with Dr. Bawumia since their election and focused on strengthening party unity, rebuilding grassroots structures, and positioning the NPP for victory in the 2028 general elections

During the discussions, both the regional leadership and Dr. Bawumia reaffirmed their commitment to working together to energize the party, deepen collaboration among members, and ensure the NPP remains focused on reclaiming the lost  parliamtary seats in the region and winning power in the 2028 general elections

The engagement is seen as an important step in fostering closer coordination between the party’s national leadership and the newly elected Upper East Regional Executives as preparations gradually begin for the next general elections in 2028
