Lesken Enterprise Limited has congratulated journalists in the Upper East Region for their dedication to responsible journalism, following the recognition of outstanding media practitioners at the 5th Upper East Regional Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Awards
The Operations Manager of Lesken Enterprise, Bogobiri Benard Salia, conveyed the company’s message of congratulations, particularly to Prosper Adankai of GBC URA Radio, adjudged Best Reporter in Tourism, Arts and Culture, and Gladys Apuweni, who was named Best Female Journalist at the awards ceremony
In a message delivered on behalf of the company, Mr Bogobiri praised the commitment of journalists to accurate, responsible and impactful reporting, noting that their work helps keep communities informed and gives a voice to people whose concerns might otherwise go unheard
He said the contribution of journalists to national development deserved recognition and encouragement, particularly in an era when public access to credible information remains essential to informed decision-making
“Your commitment to share accurate, responsible and impactful stories, which help keep communities informed and give a voice to the voiceless on issues that matter,” he said, commending journalists for their service to society
Mr Bogobiri urged media practitioners to remain steadfast in upholding the values of trust, integrity and professionalism, despite the challenges associated with the practice of journalism
He noted that the work of journalists goes beyond reporting daily events, as their stories can influence public understanding, strengthen accountability and inspire positive change within communities
“Even in the face of challenges, your work makes a difference, and your contribution to Ghana’s development is deeply valued,” he said
The Operations Manager encouraged journalists in the region to continue informing, inspiring and strengthening communities through credible reporting and responsible storytelling
The commendation comes after the 5th Upper East Regional GJA Awards, which recognised journalists for their contributions to the media landscape and the development of the region
Prosper Adankai of GBC URA Radio received the award for Best Reporter in Tourism, Arts and Culture, recognising his work in a specialised reporting field that connects tourism promotion, cultural preservation and local economic development
Gladys Apuweni was also recognised as Best Female Journalist for her contribution to journalism in the region
Their recognition highlights the importance of specialised reporting and professional excellence in drawing public attention to issues affecting communities and sectors critical to regional development
Tourism, arts and culture reporting, in particular, offers opportunities to showcase the Upper East Region’s cultural heritage, traditional institutions, festivals, historic sites, local creativity and tourism potential
Through sustained media attention, such stories can help promote destinations, encourage investment, attract visitors and create opportunities for communities whose livelihoods depend on tourism and related enterprises
Lesken Enterprise’s message of encouragement therefore reinforces the importance of collaboration between the private sector and the media in supporting journalism that informs the public and contributes to development
Mr Bogobiri reaffirmed Lesken Enterprise’s goodwill towards the GJA Upper East Regional Branch, expressing the company’s hope for continued success and a productive working relationship with the association
He said the company valued the efforts of journalists and encouraged them to remain committed to ethical reporting, even when confronted with professional and operational difficulties
The company’s message also underscored the need for businesses and other stakeholders to appreciate the media’s role in communicating development priorities, highlighting community concerns and promoting constructive public engagement
As the media landscape continues to evolve, the call for accuracy, integrity and professionalism remains central to maintaining public confidence in journalism
For the award-winning journalists, the recognition provides an opportunity to deepen their commitment to responsible reporting and to tell stories that reflect the aspirations, challenges and achievements of the people of the Upper East Region
Lesken Enterprise Limited has wished the GJA Upper East Regional Branch continued success, expressing optimism about future collaboration
The company’s congratulatory message serves as a reminder that journalism is a collective development resource, requiring professional dedication from journalists and sustained encouragement from businesses, institutions and the communities they serve
