UE/R: SOCO PROJECT FACILITATORS URGED TO WORK HARD FOR THE SUCCESS OF THE PROJECT – DCE NABDAM

The Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) has secured three nominations in the 5th Upper East Regional Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Awards, with two journalists from GBC URA Radio and one from GBC making the shortlist
The nominees are Gladys Apuweni and Prosper Adankai of GBC URA Radio, alongside Peter Agengre of GBC
They are among 15 journalists selected from 47 entries submitted by 24 journalists across the Upper East Region following a competitive selection process
The nominations place GBC and its Upper East operations among the media organisations represented in the awards, which seek to recognise outstanding journalism and contributions to the development of the region and Ghana
Other nominated journalists are drawn from Dreamz FM, A1 Radio, TV3, Daily Graphic, New Times Corporation, ApexNewsGh and Bolgatanga Technical University
The awards will feature several competitive categories, including Most Promising Journalist, Female Journalist of the Year and Journalist of the Year
The 5th Upper East Regional GJA Awards will be held on Friday, October 2, 2026, at Lapam Zorko, Yikene, Bolgatanga
This year’s ceremony is being held under the theme: “Beyond the Headlines: The Media’s Role in Promoting WASH for Safe Motherhood and Quality Healthcare.”
The theme focuses attention on the media’s role in highlighting challenges related to water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), particularly within healthcare facilities, and stimulating public discourse on their impact on safe motherhood and quality healthcare
The ceremony is expected to bring together journalists, media organisations, government officials, development partners, traditional leaders, business representatives, civil society organisations and other stakeholders
The Upper East Regional Executive of the GJA has congratulated all 15 nominees and commended the 24 journalists who submitted entries for their commitment to journalism in the region
With three GBC journalists making the shortlist, all eyes will now be on the awards night as Gladys Apuweni, Prosper Adankai and Peter Agengre join other nominees in the race for honours at the 5th Upper East Regional GJA Awards
