UE/R: SOCO PROJECT FACILITATORS URGED TO WORK HARD FOR THE SUCCESS OF THE PROJECT – DCE NABDAM

Five persons have been arrested after the Northern Regional Police Command’s Special Operations Team, popularly known as RED MARIA, conducted a targeted operation at the Aboabo scraps area near the forest in the Tamale Metropolis
According to the Northern Regional Police Command, the operation was carried out on Monday, September 21, 2026, at about 11:30 a.m., as part of efforts to clamp down on drug peddling, drug use and other criminal activities in the area
The suspects have been identified as Ibrahim Issahaku, 39; Mohammed John, 28; Mohammed Nawas, 25; Mohammed Osman Awal, 41; and Kwame Boateng, 28
Police said a search of the residence of Ibrahim Issahaku led to the recovery of two foreign-made pistols, two rounds of 9mm ammunition, one parcel of suspected Indian hemp and GH¢1,880 in cash
In a separate recovery, GH¢18,825 was allegedly found concealed inside the motorcycle of Kwame Boateng at the ghetto
Police suspect the money may be proceeds from the sale of narcotic drugs
Other exhibits recovered during the operation include 123 wraps of suspected Indian hemp, 12 sachets of 1mg Rohypnol, seven sachets of 250mg Tramadol, 111 wraps of suspected ashes and three motorbikes
The total cash recovered during the operation amounted to GH¢20,705.
The five suspects, together with the exhibits, have been handed over to the Regional Drug Law Enforcement Unit (RDLEU) for further investigation and necessary action
The Northern Regional Police Command said the operation forms part of its continued intelligence-led efforts to disrupt illicit drug trafficking, drug use and associated criminal activities within the region
The Command, according to the release signed by DCOP Wisdom Lavoe, Northern Regional Commander, said it will sustain such operations to combat crime across the region
