BTU Fires Back at Prof. Alnaa – Office Lockout Claims Are False and Malicious

By – Sadat Dabo

Management of Bolgatanga Technical University (BTU) has strongly rejected allegations that it has denied Professor Samuel E. Alnaa and two other individuals access to their offices despite a court ruling in their favour, describing the claims as “false and completely malicious”

In a press release issued on Thursday, October 22, 2026, the University maintained that it had filed an appeal against the court ruling and was relying on the applicable court rules and procedures, particularly Rule 27(2) of C.I. 19, to justify its position

The response comes amid claims that the University has refused to grant the three individuals access to their offices following the court’s decision

BTU rejects allegations of defying court

Management described the allegations as misleading and mischievous, arguing that they could create a false impression among the public about the University’s actions

“The University therefore rejects any claims that its actions should be characterized as defiance of the court,” the statement said

According to Management, the University’s decision should be understood within the context of the ongoing legal proceedings rather than portrayed as a deliberate attempt to disregard the court

University challenges those alleging contempt

In a strong message to Professor Alnaa and the other affected individuals, BTU stated that anyone who believes the University’s actions amount to contempt of court should seek clarification and the appropriate relief from the court with jurisdiction over the matter

Management also urged media organisations, the affected individuals and the general public to exercise restraint, verify information before publication, and avoid statements that could misrepresent the University’s position or prejudice the ongoing legal process

What happens next?

The dispute places the spotlight on the relationship between the University’s pending appeal and the implementation of the court’s ruling

While Management insists that it is acting in accordance with established judicial procedures, the central issue remains whether its position on access to the offices is consistent with the applicable court orders and procedural rules

The University’s statement does not provide details of the court ruling, the grounds of its appeal or the specific circumstances surrounding the alleged denial of access

BTU has reiterated its commitment to the rule of law, assuring stakeholders that it will continue to pursue the matter through the appropriate legal channels and respect applicable laws and binding court orders.l

Management has called on all parties to allow the judicial process to run its full course and refrain from actions or statements that could prejudice the proceedings
