By – Sadat Dabo
Bolgatanga Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Roland Atanga Ayoo, has outlined a number of infrastructure projects being undertaken across the municipality since he assumed office, highlighting healthcare, education, sanitation and other development interventions
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Sadat Dabo of gbcuraonline.com, Mr. Ayoo said he was confirmed as MCE on April 28, 2026, and subsequently assumed office on May 5, 2026
He said taking charge of the municipality came with significant expectations from residents, particularly because the MCE is considered the closest representative of government at the local level
According to him, residents expect the MCE to address challenges ranging from unemployment, sanitation and roads to education, healthcare and industrialisation
“The truth of the matter is that the work of an MCE is so challenging such that you are so close to people and you are the immediate person to approach. Everybody in the constituency thinks that you have solutions to all their problems,” he said
Infrastructure interventions
Mr. Ayoo explained that his administration began implementing projects using the 2025 District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), Internal Generated Funds (IGF), and other development interventions
Among the projects he highlighted are:
Completion of a CHPS compound with a borehole and hospital equipment at Tindonmolgo

Rehabilitation of the Municipal Chief Executive’s residence at Zorbisi

Rehabilitation of a 10-seater toilet, bath and urinal facility at the new market at Dapore-Tindongo

Construction of a CHPS compound at Sawaba-Tanzui, including an OPD, store, dispensary, consulting room, delivery room, waiting and lying room, medical equipment and a mechanised borehole

Construction of a 2-unit KG block with a 4-seater toilet and 2-unit urinals at Yorogo Gaabisi

Completion of a 50-capacity laboratory main building at Yorogo West

Construction of a 3-unit classroom block, ICT/library, staff common room, store and headteacher’s office, together with toilet and urinal facilities for JHS at Kolgo-Agusi

Construction of a 2-unit KG block with toilet and urinal facilities at Aperiga Dorongo

Completion of a 3-unit community facility with a 4-seater toilet at Sherigu-Basengo

The MCE said some of the projects were legacy projects inherited from previous administrations, while others are being financed through the Assembly’s internally generated funds and other development programmes
He also mentioned the Gulf of Guinea Northern Regions Social Cohesion (SOCO) Project as a source of support for some infrastructure interventions
Mr. Ayoo said the projects form part of efforts to respond to the infrastructure needs of communities across the Bolgatanga Municipality and improve access to essential services
He stressed that his administration is approaching development from multiple sectors, with infrastructure forming an important part of its agenda
