UE/R: SOCO PROJECT FACILITATORS URGED TO WORK HARD FOR THE SUCCESS OF THE PROJECT – DCE NABDAM

The 2024 Regional Composite Budget Hearing involving three Districts namely; Bolgatanga East, Nabdam and Talensi was held at the Bolgatanga East District Assembly Conference Hall in which the Nabdam District Assembly presented its budget first amidst relevant stakeholders.
The District’s Budget officer Mr. Saaka Maafus who presented it on behalf of the District Chief Executive for the area Agnes Anamoo intimated that Budget Hearings have been instituted as an integral part of Budget Management Processes to subject the revenues generated by the various Assemblies and the expenditure estimates of the Assemblies to scrutiny in an open discussion forum. It provides a platform for stakeholders to deliberate and also validate compliance to government’s policy and expenditure priorities, measure targets based on previous year’s performance and examine the status of the implementation of the District Medium Term Development Plan (DMTDP).
All these processes according to him, aimed at enhancing citizens participation, transparency and accountability in an open discussion. In the area of education he stated that the district has twenty-five public KGs, Eleven Private KGs, Twenty-Five Public Primary schools, Eight Private Primary Schools, Twenty Public Junior High Schools and One Public Senior High School/ Vocational and Technical School, VTS.
In the area of health, Mr.Maafus mentioned that the District has Twenty-Eight CHPS Compounds, Three Clinics and a District Hospital.The Regional Chief Director, Alhaji Abubakari Inusah in his remarks urged all the District Assemblies to be mindful of the economic challenges being experienced by the country by ensuring that their budget estimates correspond effectively to the revenues being generated and funds meant for their operations.
The Chief Director further intimated that, the Regional Coordination Council took keen interest in these budget hearing adding it is what is fed into Regional and National Budgets respectively.
He thanked all the three District Assemblies for availing themselves for the Hearing. Present at the ceremony included the DCE for Nabdam, the District Co-ordinating Director Rosina Musah, the District Finance Officer, Zakaria Halim, Head of Local Government Service Accra, Terry Tetteh, Madam Naa-Dey Ashie of the Ministry of Finance, the Regional Finance Officer RCC, Alhaji Shaibu Muntawakilu, the Regional Budget Officer RCC, Sumani Seidu, Regional Internal Auditor RCC, Solomon P. Kambey and Apiigah Edmund, the Regional Social Welfare Officer RCC.
