UE/R: SOCO PROJECT FACILITATORS URGED TO WORK HARD FOR THE SUCCESS OF THE PROJECT – DCE NABDAM

The Upper East Regional Chief Imam, Sheikh Yussuf Umar Imam has donated assorted food items to some eleven selected schools in the the region as part of his initiative dubbed ” Ramadan Iftaar Project for Schools”
The donation which included 22 bags of rice, 7 yellow drums of cooking oil and 7 bags of sugar worth GHC 13, 155.00 mobilised for the project.
The beneficiary schools of this maiden donation comprised of five tertiary schools namely; Navrongo Community Health Nurses Training School, Bolgatanga Technical University, BTU, Bolgatanga Nurses Training School, ST. John BOSCO College of Education and Zuarungu Nurses and Midwifery Training School as well six Senior High Schools including Zamse Senior High and Technical School, Bongo Senior High School, Zorkor Senior High School, Tongo Senior High School, Bolgatanga Girls Senior School and Gowrie Senior High School.
In an address shortly before the presentation of the items the Chief Imam underscored the need to give to the poor and the needy at all times more especially during months of Ramadan.
What necessitated the establishment of this initiative according to the Imam was as a result of yearly pressure from Ghana Muslims Students Association (GMSA) across the region asking for support in that direction.
He thanked donors who contributed in diverse ways towards raising the total amount for the items.
He appealed for support so as to make the initiative sustainable.
He pledged that as and when donations trickle in the gesture would be extended to the many needy schools spread across the length and breath of the region.
