Vote buying occurs when a voter takes money from a political candidate in other to vote for the person .
The voters votes for the person because of the money he or she has taken, without recourse to the person”s ability to function effectively in that political office. So for one to campaign and win elections in Ghana one needs about seven hundred thousand US dollars.
This is according to a research conducted by Center for democratic governance. (CDD) This is definitely veryexpensive for most Ghanaians with political ambition and competent to venture, there by paving the way for only the ones that can afford about seven hundred thousand U S dollars. In this case square pegs are put in round holes.
It is a fast emerging trend that is very detrimental to Ghana’s thirty one years democratic governance. He advised Ghanaians to stop engaging in vote buying.
