The Kologo health Centre in the Kasena Nankana Municipal in the Upper East Region is in died need of an Ambulance, renovation, nurses accomodation, beds and mattresses, consulting rooms, drugs ,Scan machine, water and a pickup very urgently to be able to deliver effective health services to the people to enable them to also contribute meaningfully to the country.
The Assembly Man for the Kulongo/Zongo electoral area and the women who are the most victims when it comes to health issues ,raised these challenges with the media at Kologo. According to honourable Jacob Ncho, the Kologo health Centre was built in 14 years ago and had since not received any renovation leaving the building especially the nurses accomodation very dilapidated and the only ambulance donated by Mr Alibu, a good citizen from the area also grounded, due to engine and tyres problems and the only pickup too had an accident and damaged beyond repairs.
He said the health centre servers Kologo,Naaga and Biu communities and now that, they have no transport, sometimes the resort to tricycles and motor bikes to transport emergency cases to Navrongo and the road too is been worked on and not motorable especially in the night and raining season and most at times end up losing the patient especially the pregnant women and therefore call for a help from the Kasena Nankana Municipal assembly, the government and any benevolent organizations to come to their aid urgently.
One of the concern women,Madam Dagompoka said the nurses are doing their best but they have no adequate water, ambulance for emergencies and some are also staying outside especially in Navrongo whilst coming daily due to accommodation challenges and the also have only one consulting room with few beds and spoiled mattresses and she therefore appeals for support especially the fixing of the ambulance to reduce infant and maternal health mortality in the area
Another concern woman, Madam Jennifer Atogiyiri Asibi also mentioned the same problems facing the Kologo health Centre and added that the centre also lacks a Scan machine and drugs and the always refers them to Navrongo for those services and getting fares to travel to Navrongo is also a challenge for them and sometimes some end up not going for the scan and the drugs and the end results are always fatal and added her voice also calling the authorities to come to their aid
Kologo is one of the underdeveloped communities in the southern part of the Kasena Nankana Municipality and therefore needed a deliberate efforts by the Central government to bring it apar to improves the lives of the people in the whole municipality.
