The North East Regional Minister, Ibrahim Tia, has engaged residents along a 40-kilometre feeder road project linking Wulugu in the West Mamprusi Municipality to Wundua in the East Mamprusi Municipality, in a move expected to improve connectivity and boost economic activities across the corridor

The community engagement and orientation tour, held on Monday, October 12, 2026, focused on the ongoing road construction being undertaken by Mawums Construction
The 40-kilometre road passes through Wulugu, Guabuluga, Tinpeela, Bunzulungu, Kasape and Langbinsi before terminating at Wundua, connecting communities across the two municipalities

Development Is for Everyone
Addressing residents at the various communities, Mr Tia assured them that the NDC government would not discriminate against any community based on its voting preferences
He stressed that development was for everyone in the North East Region, regardless of political affiliation, and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to connecting communities through improved road infrastructure
According to him, the road project is expected to improve transportation and strengthen links between communities along the route
Minister Seeks Additional Community Benefits
Mr Tia also disclosed that he was engaging Mawums Construction on possible corporate social responsibility initiatives to support the communities hosting the project
He mentioned facilities such as boreholes, a police station and a clinic as possible areas of support, depending on the needs of the communities
Residents Anticipate Jobs and Economic Growth
Some residents expressed gratitude to the government for the ongoing road construction projects in the region, saying the 40-kilometre route would boost economic activities and create employment opportunities during construction

They also expressed optimism that the improved road link would reduce travelling distances between parts of the East Mamprusi area and the Upper East Region, while making it easier for farmers, traders and other road users to transport goods and access markets
The road is expected to improve mobility along the Wulugu–Wundua corridor and strengthen economic connections between the beneficiary communities
Mr Tia thanked residents for their cooperation with the government and Mawums Construction, emphasising the importance of community support for the successful execution of the project
The Minister was accompanied by the Municipal Chief Executive for East Mamprusi, some assembly members and engineers from the North East Regional Coordinating Council
The 40-kilometre Wulugu–Wundua road project is expected to serve as an important transport link for communities along the corridor, with residents looking forward to improved access, jobs and expanded economic opportunities
