The newly assigned North East Regional Director of Health Service, Dr. Joyce Emakayor Bening, has officially joined the regional health management team during the Mid-Year Performance Review held on Tuesday August 25, 2026 at the Baptist Medical Centre in Nalerigu

Her participation in the review meeting marks the beginning of her tenure as she takes over leadership of the North East Regional Health Directorate

Dr. Bening succeeds Dr. Chrysantus Kubio, the Northern Regional Director of Health Service, who had been serving as caretaker of the North East Region following the reassignment of the substantive Regional Director, Dr. Godfred Kwabena Sarpong, to the Western Region

The Mid-Year Performance Review brought together health managers and other key stakeholders to assess the region’s health service delivery, review achievements, identify challenges, and discuss strategies for improving healthcare outcomes

Dr. Bening’s appointment is expected to provide renewed leadership as the North East Regional Health Directorate continues its efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery and improve access to quality health services across the region

Her assumption of office forms part of ongoing administrative changes within the Ghana Health Service aimed at enhancing leadership and service delivery across the country’s regions
