BOLGATANGA TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY HOLDS TWELTH CONGREGATION

The Bolgatanga Technical University has graduated a total of 628 students made up of 328 males and 300 females. Out of this number, 165 offered a Bachelor of Technology, while 429 graduated with Higher National Diploma, and with 34 being Professional Diploma graduates. Eighty four gained first Class. The Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Samuel Erasmus Alnaa disclosed this during the 12th Congregation of the University at Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region.

He advised the graduates to persevere and use their entrepreneurial skills and training gained to face the difficulties head-on. He further appealed to them to strive for excellence and integrity in every task, whether small or large in their lives.

The outgoing Upper East Regional Minister, Stephen Yakubu indicated that the conversion of the school into a Technical University in 2020 came at the right time as it has upgraded the status to run various disciplines and therefore advised graduates to embrace the various social intervention programs by government.

The chairman of the Governing Council of BTU, Prof Francis A. Abantanga stated that congregations are very vital and special occasions in the life every University and its grandaunts. He reiterated that this is normally the time the University takes stock of various activities and programmes that took place during the academic year as well as confer degrees and diplomas on deserving students.

He recounted that the university few students in 1999 but it can now boast of several relevant technology -based programmes that are impacting not only its immediate environment, but the nation at large.

He advised and reminded graduands to inculcate in themselves a character and mindset that gives them a competitive advantage over their peers. He added that the need for graduands to embrace innovation, think critically, and foster a spirit of collaboration as the problems we face today require collective solutions.
