UE/R: SOCO PROJECT FACILITATORS URGED TO WORK HARD FOR THE SUCCESS OF THE PROJECT – DCE NABDAM

The Rotary Club of Navrongo Chapter has held its maiden presentation and fundraising dinner night to support the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of War Memorial Hospital in Navrongo in the Kasena Nankana Municipal in the Upper East Region. According to the new club advisor ,PP Dominic Kafui Kornu,in November 2023 he received a call from PDG Jeffrey Afful and the selection committee, to help in advisory role to form a new Club in Navrongo and quickly five Rotarians were recruited from Rotary clubs of Sunyani Central, Kumasi East and Tamale and their first meeting was December 10,2023 with a membership of 30 from Navrongo, already formed through a functional WhatsApp group and the attained provisional status after adopting The Standard Rotary Club Constitution and Club Bylaws in April 21,2024 and by May 5, they got their leaders elected and immediately filed for a Chapter and finally received their Chapter on June 26,2024 with forty (40) members and which later increased to fifty (50) and the look forward to growing the membership further, before this Rotary year ends. He congratulated the members who availed themselves to serve in solving identified challenges in their communities.
The District governor, Florence Maame Hagan, in her Goodwill message congratulated them, said the Rotary Club of Navrongo marks the achievement of Rotary District 9104’s aim to reach all regions and corners of Ghana adding that it’s encouraging to know the people of Navrongo and its environs now have the opportunity to experience the magic of Rotary and urged the members to be guided by their four-way test of the things they think, say or do and Rotary’s Action Plan. According to her, the Club will now have an opportunity to undertake projects to be in the seven Areas of focus namely: Protecting the Environment, Peace building and Conflict Prevention, Maternal and Child Health, Community Economic Development, Water Sanitation and Hygiene, Disease Prevention and Treatment, Basic Education Literacy, in less endowed communities that surrounds them and thereby become ambassadors of hope.
The past District governor, Jeffrey Afful said the Navrongo Club is the sixth new Club to be sponsored successfully so far in their new Ghana District in the 2023-2024 Rotary year and saluted the members of the Rotary Club of Navrongo for now been part of a global network of business, professional and community volunteers and should be committed to changing lives in their own communities through those synergies. He asked them to manifest their actions to show that they are ready to inspire their community to greater heights; creating hope in the world and unleash the magic of Rotary for the benefit of mankind.
The Paramount Chief of the Navrongo Traditional Area, His Royal Highness, Navropio Dennis Aneakwoa Balinia Adda Asagepare II. was very excited and thankful for all those who made it possible for the formation of the Club in a record time, less than a year due to their hard work and commitment to the course. He commended the Rotary Club for their good works throughout the world especially Polio eradication which he is familiar with and today the are doing fundraising to support the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), at the War Memorial Hospital in Navrongo and pledges his full support of the Club. According to him as a paramount chief, he understands the sacrifices required of persons who have offered themselves to serve the vulnerable in society and wished the members a renewed energy, patience, persistence, resilience etc as the start this journey of selfless commitment to improve the lives of others.
The Navrongo Rotary Club Chapter’s President, Dennis chirawurah who chronicled the events leading to the Club establishment like starting as a Whatsapp groups in membership and resources mobilization in support of health, education and other issues, that culminated to the formation of the Club, was full of excitement and took the opportunity to thank those who made it possible. According to the president, he is hopeful about the future of the Rotary Club of Navrongo District 9104 and Rotary International, and pledge to commit giving his best and urged the members to do same so that collectively the will be able to contribute meaningfully towards addressing the myriad of development challenges confronting their communities and Ghana and to build resilient communities, country and the world together.
The Board members of the Navrongo Rotary club are ; Dennis chirawurah as president, Joseph Amikuzuno as vice president, Englebert A Nonterah, sectary, Lamise Kwogia a treasure and Emmanuel Kwaku Allou Apayire.and the Directors are;Roland Atabe Kanlise, Theophilus Pwase Balinia-Adda, James A.A. Tankia, Lucas Yikimpa Chigabatia and Jafani Clement Nabare.
