The Flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr John Dramani Mahama, says an NDC administration in 2025 will establish District Mining Offices across mining Districts in the Upper East Region.
That, he said would boost mining activities in such Districts and reduce the challenges including illegal mining activities, popularly known as ‘Galamsey’ in the mining sector in the Region.
Addressing the Regional House of Chiefs in Bolgatanga as part of his two-day “Building Ghana Tour” of the Region, the Flag bearer said the offices would be extended to Districts with mining potentials.
He said issues of mining license acquisition would also be curtailed.
Touching on security in the Region, Mr Mahama noted with concern the security issues in the Region and mentioned a number of gun shot attacks on passengers which led to lost of lives and several juries.
He gave the assurance that an NDC government would ensure consistent security patrols on major highways to ensure traders went about their businesses safely without any hindrances.
Mr Mahama was accompanied by Members of Parliament across the Region and former government appointees.
