UE/R: GJA President campaigns for re-election in Upper East Region

The President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Mr. Albert Kwabena Dwumfour has taken his campaign to seek a second, to the Upper East Region.

The GJA will go to the polls on June 30, 2025 to elect national and regional executives, and Mr. Dwumfour is seeking his second term in office with a contest from Charles Mawusi who is making his first entry into the presidential race of the inky professional body.

Mr. Dwumfour was accompanied by his National Campaign Chairman, Mr. Gabriel  Bosompem, former Upper East Regional Chairman of the GJA, Mr. Eric Amoh and the outgoing Regional Chairman, Mr. William Jalulah.

His visit brought together journalists from across the region in a show of unity and anticipation for the elections.

In his address, Mr. Dwumfour reaffirmed his unwavering support, commitment, and availability to the growth and advancement of the GJA. He expressed his appreciation for the hard work and dedication of media professionals in the region and underscored the vital role journalists play in national development.

“The Association is deeply concerned about the well-being and safety of its members,” Mr. Dwumfour said. “I remain firmly committed to ensuring that the rights and safety of journalists are protected at all times.

He also urged members of the Association to take full advantage of the scholarship program secured under his leadership with Winsconsin International University College, Ghana, which aims to support journalists seeking to further their education and professional development.

“The world of journalism is evolving rapidly, and it is important that we keep pace. Through this scholarship program, we are investing in the future of our members and the profession at large,” he added.

The visit provided an opportunity for regional members to interact directly with the GJA President and share their concerns and expectations ahead of the elections. Many expressed appreciations for the leadership’s outreach efforts and its focus on members’ welfare and capacity building.
