A suspect has been taken into custody by the Savannah Regional Police Command in relation to the murder and robbery of a mobile money vendor in Pwalugu, Upper East Region. On April 8, 2025, the major suspect, Nuhu Mumuni, was taken into custody at his hiding place in Mankarigu, a village in the Savannah Region’s North Gonja District.
On March 3, 2025, Mumuni and his associates are accused of shooting and killing mobile money merchant Benjamin Apuri while stealing an undisclosed sum of money, according to Savannah Regional Police Commander COP Samuel Winful. The suspect will be turned over to the Upper East Regional Police Command to face punishment while he is still in police custody.
The fact that the arrest was made possible by an intelligence-led operation shows how successful police efforts are in preventing crime. COP Winful gave his word that the police are dedicated to holding offenders accountable and maintaining regional safety and tranquility.
The Savannah Region’s North Gonja District contains the community of Mankarigu, where the suspect was taken into custody. The region is a part of the Daboya/Mankarigu constituency, which has recently witnessed initiatives to upgrade its services and infrastructure.
