GBC URA RADIO Abagna Jose Nelson wins 2025 Upper East Region, Ghana Journalists Association Sports Journalist of the Year for the 4th Time..

Ghana Broadcasting Corporation Ura Radio Sports Journalist, Abagna Jose Nelson emerged as the Best Sports Journalist in the 4th Ghana Journalists Association Awards for Upper East Region.

 

The awards ceremony held at Blue Sky Hotel in Bolgatanga under the theme “Upholding Public Trust: The role of of the media in promoting Accountable Governance in the Upper East Region”.

Nelson story focused on the abandoned Navrongo Sports Stadium project where he passionately called on Government to complete the project in order to accelerate Sports development in the region.

He mentioned it was not just about laying brick and mortar but completing the sports stadium was something that will significantly boost both sports and the local economy of the region.

Nelson, winning the award this year add up to his 4th since the Inception of the Ghana Journalists Association Awards at the Regional level.

He won the previous three editions held in 2019, 2023 and 2024 making him the most outstanding and decorated Sports Journalist in the Upper East Region.

Speaking after receiving his Award, Mr Abagna expressed his delight for winning the award for the fourth time and dedicated it to Mr Alhassan Abubakari ( A former Regional Director of GBC Ura Radio and now Regional Director of Garden City Radio, Kumasi)

He said “I owe this success to Mr Abubakari for giving me such a rare opportunity to work under him at GBC URA Radio some years ago. That singular chance you gave me at URA Radio years ago when others were kicking against it, has brought me this far. God Bless You , Sir. Mr. Abagna concluded.
