UE/R: SOCO PROJECT FACILITATORS URGED TO WORK HARD FOR THE SUCCESS OF THE PROJECT – DCE NABDAM

The National Democratic Congress NDC, Communications Bureau in the Upper East Region has organized its 3rd annual retreat and end of year,2025 party in Bolgatanga to assess their performance as communicatirs from the 15 Constituency. The Regional Communication officer of the ruling NDC, Comrade Jonathan Abdallah Salifu, acknowledged the efforts of the past and current leaders of the party, including the serial callers, social media communicators and the main stream panelists .He expressed his gratitude to all of them and the media,for uplifting their voices, and that it’s now time to wine and dine and prepare for next year.
The MP for Bolgatanga Central, Hon Isaac Adongo, who is also a Chairman of finance committee in parliament, accused the past administration of running the economy at ground with very low reserve cover of 0.8 months, including printing of GHC 80b, and took Ghana to IMF for for $3b bail out and, that is the economy they inherited, with a forex requirement of $250m a week, for essential drugs,goods and services, and accommodated energy sector debt which they are servicing. According to him, because of these problems and more, inherited from the past government, they decided to established the GoldBod, and under the leadership of the CEO,Mr Sammy Gyamfi, it’s doing well, as per all the cost benefits analysis, shows that, it’s better for Ghana to suffer a loss at the Bank of Ghana at $ 214m and accommulate $ 11b three years ahead of target set by the IMF, describing it as “heavy lifting” and it comes with a cost for the mean time, and today exchange rate is stable, inflation, fuel, goods and services prices are down, due to good economic management, including the introduction of financial discipline by the finance Minister, cutting off waste, and that is were the President, John Dramani Mahama is getting the resources to do the works they are seeing,without borrowing. He debunked the claims by the NPP people that ,they have pumped $10b into the economy and explained that,they came to meet $8b and if they pump $10b to it,there would have been a negative balance of $ 2b, but they are sitting on $ 11b, and described the claim as unacademic.
The Upper East Regional Minister,Hon Donatus Akamugri Atanga, on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama, expressed his gratitude to the regional NDC’S Communications Bureau, for the good work done, by delivering the “agenda 15,15” for the party,and admonished all the party members that,they are all party communicators and called for an effective functional relationship amongst them. He also acknowledged the unity that existed between the NDC and New Patriotic Party NPP,in the region, the reason why they were part of their end of year party to cement that relationship.
The National Chairman of the NDC, Mr Johnson Aseidu Nketia, who was in the region to attend to some festivals, took time off to be part of the regional communicators, to appreciate them on behalf of the national executive and stated that, they went into the 2024 election with everything against them and, when they began making changes in the party, especially parliamentary leadership,there were many who felt unhappy, but all was meant to win the election, and in the past they were looking at making the policies and doing the projects, to attract the electorates and no conscious investment in their communications set up, and they changed that system too, focusing on that area with the little resources they got, because they new the have a good message, but it can’t advertise itself, the needed to get effective communicators to carry it to the people with consistency to convince the people to vote for them . According to him the NPP by far,were having the resources and in control of the refree, security and virtually everything but still they have won, due to their hard work, however the NPP is down, but not out, because they continue to tease some of the NDC people who have no appointments,and they shouldn’t listen to them, because NDC is just one year in office, and there’s hope that,there are better days ahead.
He urged them not to limit their communication to only social media platforms, but also get in touch with the grassroots people for effective engagement. He thanked the people of Upper East Region,for being steadfast and consistent behind the NDC, since the inception of the 4th Republic, which election results has not changed, wether in government or opposition and used the opportunity to deliver his thank you tour message, and assured them he will still come back and do the needful. Some of the dignitaries present were MPs from Bolgatanga Central, Navrongo Central, Chiana Paga, Talensi ,MDCEs ,both NDC and NPP leaders, security, the media and other invited guests.
