UER: Deputy Managing Director of Consolidated Bank Ghana Inspires Bolgatanga Girls’ SHS Students to Pursue Dreams, Break Gender Stereotypes

By Prosper Adankai

The Deputy Managing Director of Consolidated Bank Ghana (CBG), Sheila Azuntaba, has called on young girls in the Upper East Region to remain focused, work hard, and pursue their dreams relentlessly, regardless of regional challenges or limitations.

Speaking at the second BOGSOGA Speech and Prize-Giving Day at Bolgatanga Girls’ Senior High School, Ms Azuntaba, who was also crowned Miss Ghana in 1996, shared her personal journey from a young girl in the Upper East to a nationally recognized figure. She emphasised that her achievements were the result of years of sacrifice, discipline, and unwavering commitment to excellence, and
not simply handed to her.

Addressing the students, she encouraged them to set ambitious goals, remain disciplined in their academic pursuits, and seize personal
development opportunities that can position them as future leaders. She stressed that their background or environment should never define
the limits of their aspirations, highlighting the importance of confidence, resilience, and determination in overcoming obstacles.

Ms Azuntaba further challenged the entrenched gender stereotype that women must “take the backseat” in society. She underscored that modern Ghana requires bold, capable, and visionary female leaders across all sectors, and that today’s young women have the power and
responsibility to shape the nation’s future.

Her message resonated with the students, inspiring a renewed sense of purpose and commitment to academic excellence, personal growth, and
leadership development, reinforcing the school’s mission to cultivate the next generation of female trailblazers in Ghana.

The event also celebrated outstanding academic achievements, leadership, and service, providing a platform for the students to
learn from accomplished role models like Ms Azuntaba.
