UE/R: SOCO PROJECT FACILITATORS URGED TO WORK HARD FOR THE SUCCESS OF THE PROJECT – DCE NABDAM
By: Gideon K. Adu
On the blessed evening of 24th Night, the Sacred Heart Cathedral Church was overflowed with worshippers eager to celerate the birth of Christ and to cross into a new year under the covering of God’s word. The Eucharistic celebration was marked by fervent prayers, joyful hymns, and a spirit of expectation.
Delivering his Homily titled “The People Has Seen a Great Light” (Isaiah 9:2), the Bishop of Navrongo Bolgatanga Diocese, Most Rev. Afred Agyanta reminded the congregation that Christ’s birth is the eternal light that pierces through every darkness. He declared that the coming of Jesus is not only a historical event but a living reality that continues to transform lives today.
The Bishop urged believers to Walk boldly in the light of Christ, Reject fear, despair, and division, Become beacons of hope in their families, workplaces, and communities, and to enter the new year with renewed faith and commitment to God’s kingdom.

The Bishop warned that unchecked greed is a shadow that consumes the soul. Greed blinds the heart, turning blessings into cravings and fellowship into exploitation. When greed takes root, it grows into extortion—where people no longer serve one another but seek to take advantage of each other.

Yet, the Bishop reminded the faithful that Christ’s light exposes this darkness. The people who have seen a great light are called to reject greed and embrace generosity. True wealth is not measured in possessions but in compassion, justice, and love.
As the congregation prepared to cross into the new year, the Bishop urged everyone to walk in the light—choosing honesty over exploitation, service over selfishness, and unity over division. The Bishop emphasized that the 24th Night is not simply a ritual but a spiritual crossing—a moment when the faithful step from darkness into light, from the old into the new.
